Join us for a special evening at the library, co-hosted by Reid Wisely Books & Brew, an independent mobile children’s bookstore committed to celebrating diverse stories and voices.
We’re thrilled to welcome Carole Boston Weatherford, the current National Young People’s Poet Laureate and winner of the 2025 Children’s Literature Legacy Award, along with her son, Jeffery Boston Weatherford, an award-winning illustrator, poet, and spoken-word artist, for this inspiring virtual event.
Carole and Jeffery will present their powerful new picture book, RAP IT UP! followed by a high-energy Verses & Vibes Workshop. Jeffery will perform a live rap demonstration and guide kids in creating and sharing their own original raps. Together, we’ll explore the roots of hip-hop, creative expression, and the storytelling behind the book.
